Powering Your Home
Currently, Blatchford homes are still relying on the grid for electricity. While we continue to work through how we can get to 100% renewable power in the community, we can all do our part to lower the amount of energy used.
Many power companies also offer ways to green your electricity for a slight increase on your bill. If you can, consider asking your power provider about their renewable energy options.
Here are a few easy ways you can save electricity:
- Use cold water to wash your clothes and only run the machine when you have a full load (bonus – saves water and energy)
- Use as much natural light as possible and turn off unnecessary lights. Even better, use LED light bulbs.
- Power down! Most electronics use power – even when they are not in use. Unplug electronics that are not being used and use a smart power strip/bar for multiple appliances, so you can easily turn them on and off.
